At Broadbeach State School we have two well established choirs. The Excellence Choir for Year three and four, and a Senior Excellence Choir for Year five and six. The choirs rehearse weekly for performances throughout the year.
Our choirs may perform at various events. For example: Harmony Day, Anzac Day, Choral Fanfare, Gold Coast Eisteddfod, Pacific Fair, Oasis Shopping Mall, Carol Night, Year Seven Farewell, Performing Arts evenings and Awards Day.
Most students who have been in the Excellence Choir progress to the Senior Excellence Choir which sings in two-part harmony. The beautiful sound created by having sopranos (high part) and altos (lower part) in the Senior Choir has led them to many great achievements.
In the last four years the Senior Excellence Choir has been placed first, second, very highly commended and highly commended in the Gold Coast Eisteddfod. They have been competing in the ‘A Grade’ section in the Eisteddfod now for three years. They have also been awarded a Gold Award in the Choral Fanfare and third place in the Pacific Fair Carol Competition. Their progress has been outstanding.

Becoming a chorister at our school is a great honour, and the skills acquired by the students remain with them for life. Besides musical skills, choristers are taught discipline, focus, confidence, routine and responsibility.
