Everly Pearson finished first at the 2023 National Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Championships, in Melbourne, and is now the Australian Champion in her division. Everly started Brazilian Jiu Jitsu only 6 months ago. In June she became the Queensland State Champion, and since then has had her sights firmly on becoming the Australian Champion. Her next goal… World Champion!
Well done to Nicola and Sabre who were instrumental in winning the Grand Final for the Pizzey Park Whirlwinds in the Under 11's, Division 2 Team for the 2021 season. Great work girls!
Well done to Jack Delaney on his efforts in the Miami State High School Surf Competition. Jack managed to make it all the way through to the semi-finals, despite being one of the youngest male surfers, where he finished in the top 10 overall. What a fantastic effort.
Elodie Mueller
Congratulations to Elodie Mueller on winning the SE QLD Brazilian Jujitsu Competition 2021! What an outstanding achievement.
Elodie was also one of the students from Broadbeach who competed at the Miami State High School Annual Surf Competition. Elodie reached the semi-finals despite competing against high-school girls twice her age! Well done Elodie!
Ryder Blake and Carragher Piddick
Ryder
Blake and Carragher Piddick recently competed in the National Futsal
Championships in Sydney, representing QLD South Coast Under 9’s over the Easter
Holidays. They were undefeated over the 4 day tournament and came out
champions bringing home Gold.
Zavaniah Iuli
Zavaniah played netball for the All Stars in the 11-12 years grade. The team did extremely well and achieved second place in the overall competition.
Zavaniah was awarded the Most Valuable Player for the 11-12 years grade and has been selected to trial for the Under 12s Sunshine Coast Netball association reps squad this November. This is Zavaniah's second full year of playing netball and we are extremely proud of all her achievements. Zavaniah has made the Under 12s Sunshine Coast netball association representative team for 2021.
Elke Rayward
Elke Rayward competed in this year's State Cross Country held in Ipswich. Out of 50 competitors over a 2km course only the top 6 would progress through to Nationals, scheduled to be held in Adelaide later this year. Elke, after putting in a huge effort, managed to place 6th overall for her 10 Year age group. Congratulations Elke on such an outstanding athletic performance. We wish you all the best for Nationals.
George Mitchell - Surf life saving
While
the majority of organised sports have been put on hold for the time being, we
here at Broadbeach would like to recognise and congratulate George Mitchell
who earlier this term was awarded the Coach’s Award for the Under 10’s Boys in
this year’s Nipper season at Kurrawa Surf Club. Congratulations George - it’s
wonderful to hear a good news sporting story during this unprecedented time.
Viv Muddle - Australian dirt track champion
Viv competed in the 2019 Australian Dirt track Titles with riders from all over Australia. It was run over 4 rounds. The top 12 qualifying to race in the final. Viv qualified in 1st place on both of his bikes.
He was undefeated and won the final in the 50cc 7/9 years to become the Australian Champion.

Brian Gill - Music
Merrimac State High School hosted its third annual Cluster
Workshop and Twilight Tunes. This event attracts over 160 students from local
primary schools in year 5 and 6 to participate in an all day Instrumental Music
workshop and perform an evening concert. This year, the Patron of Music Mr
George Ellis attended the workshop and worked with the students. As the
conductor for the Australian Symphony Orchestra, his passion and expertise for
music was a delightful addition to the day. Mr Ellis personally selected a very
small group of students whom he thought were exceptional. Congratulations to
Brian Gill.

Students from
Broadbeach State School have been selected among the best young musicians in
South East Queensland they attended the elite State Honours Ensemble Program at
the Queensland Conservatorium. It is a
intensive two-day rehearsal period with the SHEP string, wind and vocal ensembles,
concluding with a concert in the Conservatorium theatre. Congratulations to Abbi-Mae, Amy, Chloe,

Cody Atkinson - Tennis
Cody has had a massive year in the tennis court and the a
result of lots of hard work. He trains 6 days per week on the court.
This year he has achieved the following:
-Member of the Queensland super 10’s training squad
-Member of Queensland 12 and under presidents team for
primary schools state champs
-Selected into Gold Coast u11’s team to compete in
Queensland teams event
-Selected into Tennis Australia u12’s national Academy

at super 10’s national teams event. This is being played in Melbourne at the
Australian open in jan 2019.
