The Academic Academy provides intellectually challenging work for our students who are excelling in the areas of Mathematics and Writing in Years 1 to 6.
Through consultation with classroom teachers, Heads of Sub School and extension program teachers, students excelling in either, or both, Mathematics and Writing class work, class assessment and diagnostic testing, and who display exceptional independent learning skills and perseverance are invited to join the Academic Academy. The Academy extension programs further develop students' skills in the areas of Mathematics and Writing so that students are progressed through these specific learning areas at an accelerated pace of instruction to ensure their learning is continuous; they are not bored or frustrated; and, their interests and abilities are challenged and extended.
The Mathematics and Writing Extension programs used at Broadbeach State School are designed to consolidate the skills of creativity, critical thinking, problem solving, communication and collaboration, all essential for high performing students to successfully engage with their learning as they begin their journeys through education and into the workforce.
